It is a cruel act....although at that moment, they believe they are acting in the interest of justice. My question is when jungle justice( i.e resorting to self-help) is done, how do they( those who carried it out) sleep at night? i'm sure they'll have bad dreams.

I am of the opinion that those who watched while the jungle justice was done are equally liable as those who executed the J.J and must be given equal punishment.
