Employing a Song Writer, What Nigerians needs to know

I get to see how some Nigerian music fans criticize artist when they find out a song of theirs wasn't written by them or they bought the song from another artist or a songwriter.

But, is this really a big deal?

We have few of them that we are aware at a point paid a songwriter to make a hit or bought an already recorded/written song (there are lots of other artist like this you're not aware of). We need to understand that an artist is not obliged to write every song he/she sings, most Foreign artist don't write their songs themselves, these doesn't make the artist less talented or less an artist.

What Nigerians Needs to Know,

1. Writing a song is all about Experience, Ideas and Imaginations and if you fall short of these 3 things, it would be difficult to write a song, this can be caused through stress, busy schedule with shows, tours, family issues, at this point it's ok to get a songwriter.

2. An artist might be a good writer and has written 10 or more songs but this song's falls into a level of an album filler and not a hit single, after writing about 10 songs you're out of ideas, it's fine to get a songwriter to write a hit for you, something to pave a way for the album.

3. It's possible an artist kind of music is not what is currently on trend at that period, no artist is a versatile writer, in order to join the current trend to stay in the game, it's ok to get a songwriter who can follow the trend.

4. You currently have 2-3 hot banging singles, this is the right time to pull up an album, you have limited time before fans will lose interest with expecting an album, you're too busy to make this on your own, it's ok to get a songwriter.

5. Not all songwriters can sing, you wrote a song with a strong message you would like the world to hear, you don't have the voice, no strong background, no money to promote, it's ok to sell your song, don't deprive the world of your message.

I hope we get to understand there's nothing wrong with paying a songwriter, we need to work up to a level of songwriters being given credit for their work if it's what they want. Recording a song is enough to judge how good an artist is.
