Today I welcome you to
OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY the home of learning and culture.The university is located in a southern city of Nigeria. Ile-ife.

The university has rich culture and heritage and it's is well documented by historians up to date.

The university was founded in 1961 and classes commenced in October 1962 as the then university of Ife by the regional government of Western Nigeria, led by the then premier of the southern part of Nigeria. samuel Ladoke Akintola , and was renamed obafemi Awolowo University on 12 May 1987 to honour the first primer of the region.

OAU has its fondly called by Nigerians and non Nigeria has its watch word from creation up to date. "For leaning and culture " its a residential institution and has numerous hostles for both male and female ranging from undergraduates through to the post graduates. The university has 13 faculties the humanities, the arts, the natural sciences, the social sciences , the medicalscience , engineering and technology and to colleges.

The university campus is built on about 5,000 acres (20 km2) of a total of 13,000 acres (53 km2) university owned land and has over 35000 student across all departments and it's colleges.
