Sniffnscurry- Freedom from Bad Change (Government)

in #nigeria6 years ago (edited)

Change is constant they say but when happens when the crave for change leads to a bad situation?

When we are in a bad situation we crave for change so badly that we'll accept just anything different. In our search for new cheese we sometimes can end up in the wrong cheese station if we do not monitor things carefully. The next cheese station different from the previous cheese station might not necessarily be the right destination. A cheese station might look so enticing from the outside but when you get in you discover so many rotten bad cheese.

On a large scale I'll use Nigeria as a casestudy. 3 years ago we were all craving for change in leadership so bad and as we'll have it the change came. Little did we know that we'll pay so dearly for it. Nigeria as a nation entered the wrong Cheese station in search for new Cheese. What we got was old bad and corrupt Cheese but we didn't notice because we didn't read the handwriting on the wall. From the birth of Nigeria's democracy all we've been doing is recycling leaders , little wonder why there has been retarded growth. The first ever Civilian president in the person of Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo was once a millitary head of state and his tenure as president was one to forget. The next in was late president Umaru Musa Yar Adua and he was a great but unfortunately he died just few years into his tenure and his Vice Dr Goodluck Jonathan was made president. Perhaps one of the most incompetent ruler we've ever had, he governed the most corrupt government in the Country's history.

It was at this point that Nigerians decided that it was time for a change. What did we do? We elected a former millitary head of state and believed that things will turn out for good. This is what I'll decribe as turning to the wrong Cheese station (Bad Change). What followed was total economic meltdown and massive inflation. Before our very eyes we witnessed the cost of commodities doubled and even tripled in less than a month. There was drastic reduction in quality of goods despite the increase in price.

Next year will be another general election and it's so sad that there is no good change in sight, no good Cheese station to turn to. The strongest rival to the President now was a former vice president that served with the first civilian head of state so we already know he is up to no good.

President Buhari on Nugerian youths

President Buhari, while speaking during a panel discussion at the Commonwealth business forum in Westminster, London, expressed displeasure with youths in Nigeria because they were dependent on revenue from oil to survive.
He said the youths, who make up 60 percent of the population, were waiting to get social amenities free without doing anything.
"And then the economy. We have a very young population and our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. The 60 percent of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them have not been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country and therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare and education free, The moderator had asked Buhari to give his final thoughts on the issues discussed. The President said he had fulfilled his campaign promises by improving on the nation’s security and the economy.

Below are Images of the hostel conditions from one of the best Universities in the country

The so called lazy Nigerian youths are forced to live under harsh conditions and some students have died from diseases in these hostels. During my stay in these hostels I was always falling sick and it was same for many other students.

The big question is who will free us from this bad Cheese?

Sort:

It's quite sad that there is not even a way forward for changes to take place in Nigeria. The blame game is only getting stronger. These are hard times where we have to rely on God for deliverance.

The "Lazy youths" work so hard for so little, it's up to us to take freedom for ourselves from this bad cheese we are temporarily stuck with. We have so many Nigerians and citizens from all over the world joining the Crusade for Freedom in pursuit of a better cheese "A better Life".
Sirknight provided a haven for all, He is a leader ought to be emulated, if only Our Leaders could take a page from his book ,Life wouldn't be so hard.

We are the leaders of tomorrow and it's totally up to us to determine the future of our respective nations.

Another great post from you, we need to get the word out there #PrayForOurLeaders

My sibling this is add up to confronting insurgency.

I supplicate this nation shows signs of improvement pioneers.

It's painful because right now there is no viable candidate to vote for and election is next year.

Hopefully, new and young people would contest.

Talking about the downfall of Nigeria, this is not just a result that came from the laziness of the youth.
I think the unemployment rate and inflation in the country is something that has come to stay.
Also, to recapitulate everything I think we should find a way forward for our future because these leaders are happy to see that there’s no hope for the youth.

My bro I feel your pain. It's mutual. Imagine the condition of "you know who's" school hostel and they keep increasing the fees. Indeed who will free us from this bad cheese

Right now only God can help us.

As I can imagine and even understand the situation of my brothers, Venezuela goes through something similar. But we trust in God that he will soon work.

Too many evil leaders in this world. Hopefully things will change for good in the nearest future

My brother this is total facing anarchy.
I pray this country gets better leaders.

Hi, how are you? Excellent Post, Thanks for the contribution. God bless you
thanks for sharing this posts!

This is a well written article that described the poor condition of the country which is an eye sore to every soul.
It is quite very unfortunate that most of the votes are casted by we, the youths and probably we intentionally vote in the wrong person; because at this point, i don't really understand and still find it amazing why the cycle keeps on repeating itself on a quarterly basis.
As at now, i can't still point out to the right one amongst the prospective candidates all because they are bed of the same feathers. But, why is it that none of the youths can't boldly come out for the presidency election? Because some of them have the same intention as the old ones up there!
Even though that is the case, let us try it out and anticipate the outcome.
We only hope this change we are craving for will come to pass one day without taking the right and necessary steps.
Imagine that old, evil and pale-looking man describing us as being LAZY.
Let NIGERIAN YOUTHS try and make the change come true as we only have it as a dream now!
