The "O" in BODMAS, they lied to us.
I don't know if a non-Nigerian can relate with this,but we were innocently made to believe "O" stands for "of", then we took it like that - I guess we trusted our teachers too much.
I must say sincerely that we need this apology. Teachers of this generation, please take note so that your student's won't need to demand for this from you.

Well, it's not their fault as well. I guess that's what they were taught too. No text books said otherwise at the time so what do you expect. Or perhaps it's a recent development.
You know what @dorth, considering the circumstances surrounding our systems here, I think our teachers tried and are still trying.:)
Apparently, we were young, probably don't have a text book that said anything different, even if there was any, how do we tell them it's wrong? I bet it's just the social media and internet that aided this particular one.

i discovered in medical school that some of the things were taught in sec sch were not entirely correct, i had 2 unlearn d trash 2 learn d real thing.
i think this applies to all levels of knowledge the higher u go d more u realise some things you thought u knew were not exactly correct.
I disagree that "of" is easier. Infact, I remembered if didn't make sense to me even back then, but since that was what they said it was, no objection.
