Game Spotlight: Nidhogg

Game spotlight:

Game spotlight is a series of short blogs I will post regularly on my page, the idea is to cover all types of small and indie games across all platforms that I think are great fun to play and are not to expensive. I personally love playing games made by small studios and independent creators because they tend to be more unique, so you are often in for a lot of surprises.

Nidhogg:

Nidhogg is a side scrolling game that is two player only, each player has the aim of getting to the end of the map while trying to stop your opponent from doing the same.

The game only has two characters the yellow and the orange and there isn't any actual difference between each character. Your character is given a sword to fight your opponent which has a basic slash attack and you can also throw the sword, each of these attacks will kill the enemy on hit.

If you kill your opponent it gives you a chance to run forward and get closer to the end, however your opponent will re-spawn relatively quickly so you have to stay ready.

The game also has a few different maps which all have a different layout and there will be different obstacles to get around.

Although Nidhogg is a very simple game it is still a lot of fun to play, because you are both trying to get to different ends while fighting each other which can make you surprisingly competitive and you can easily get a little too into the game at times. Nidhogg definitely isn't one of those games that you will spend hours on end playing, however it can be a lot if fun to just pick up every now and then and have a few games.

The second game is also in the works so it will be interesting to see what more they add to the game, I'm not really sure as to what they would add and change but I am looking forward to seeing.
