About the Pudgy Penguins NFT collection

A team of 5 pseudonymous founders created the Pudgy Penguins NFT collection. Last April, the project was sold to entrepreneur Luca Netz for $2.5M and assumed a new leadership team, with ambitious goals of making Pudgy Penguins a global Web3 brand.

The collection's NFTs have five traits: background, body, face, head, and skin, with 13, 64, 27, 54, and 15 variations, respectively.

The Pudgy Penguins website includes a yet-inoperable "Questmap", teasing the potential of a game in the future and other utilities. Luca Netz has also published a photo of a Pudgy Penguin plush toy.

As another way to build out the Pudgy Penguin ecosystem, the team also launched a Lil Pudgys collection consisting of 22,222 sidekick NFTs. Similar to Bored Ape Kennel Club and BAYC, owners of the original collection were airdropped once of the second.

Pudgy Penguins Trading Volume & Price

Pudgy Penguins has been one of the most stable NFT collections in terms of trading volume and price (in terms of ETH) in the bear market—showing a sustainable momentum in the ETH price and activity.

Pudgy Penguins Daily Floor Price

Lil Pudgy NFTs also have a sizeable market cap but have a significantly lower floor price and lower amount of trading activity.

Summary

The Pudgy Penguins was the most successful example of the 2021 "happy" animal PFP NFT. While many more emerged, e.g. Lazy Lions, none managed to retain such an active community and interesting roadmap—for example, real-life plush toys.
