NFL Week #2

in #nfl7 years ago

Now that we have a little feel of the teams I'll be betting more, plus winning on the Jaguars and Rams feels like a moral victory. That being said, let's see if I can get ahead in week #2...

Houston Texans vs Cincinnati Bengals (-6)
Two teams that played pretty ugly games last week. Watson playing gives Houston a better chance against a Bengals defense that got pretty beaten up last week. Cincinnati's offense should do a little better against this Houston defense. They are good but not as dominant as Baltimore's. Bengals get back on track but it's gonna be a close one.
Texans 13 - Bengals 17

Cleveland Browns vs Baltimore Ravens (-8)
Cleveland played well against the Steelers and made it closer than I thought it was going to be. This Baltimore is everything it was predicted to be, dominant. The offense just needs to be decent against a growing Browns offense. Baltimore dominates and gives up 3 points for a total of 3 points in 2 weeks.
Browns 3 - Ravens 17

Buffalo Bills vs Carolina Panthers (-7.5)
Buffalo pretty much played as predicted. Nothing too spectacular but a decent win against a bad Jets team. The Panthers played well against a bad 49ers team but I think had a harder time than expected. I think they play better in their second game at home.
Bills 10 - Panthers 27

Arizona Cardinals (-7) vs Indianapolis Colts
Losing Johnson is big, luckily the Cardinals are playing the Colts. The Colts were horrible and were dominated by the Rams. If Brissett plays they have a better chance but I still don't think the Cards miss Johnson much. Palmer comes back and has a big game.
Cardinals 27 - 13

Tennessee Titans (-2) vs Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee struggled more than I thought they would but I think they'll get better, but not this week. The Jaguars on the other hand seem to have a good game plan going, keep Bortles from throwing too much, run Fournette, and let the defense lead then to a win.
Titans 17 - Jaguars 20

Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5)
The Eagles were very sporadic but came together when it counted. Not sure if the Eagle defense is that good or the Redskin offense is that bad. I think a combination of both last week. Kansas City took advantage of an injured Patriots defense that made Smith look like an all pro. That doesn't happen this week. And Berry's injury is big.
Eagles 24 - Chiefs 20

New England Patriots (-6.5) vs New Orleans Saints
Revenge game for Cooks? I think he has a big game vs a bad Saints defense. Brees is better at home and should bounce back as should the run game. The Patriots can't start 0-2 right? I think shoot out with the Patriots winning.
Patriots 30 - Saints 27

Minnesota Vikings vs Pittsburgh Steelers (-5.5)
I'm still not sold on the Vikings, and just because they beat a bad Saints defense doesn't change that. The Steelers struggled last week but they're at home now where Big Ben has always been better even though they're playing a solid Vikings defense.
Vikings 16 - Steelers 20

Chicago Bears vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-7)
The Bears defense hung with the Falcons offense for a while and made life tougher than I thought they would. Tampa has a lot of potential but hasn't put that in to action yet this season. This defense is solid and I think Winston and Evans are going to have their best year yet and that starts Sunday.
Bears 10 - Buccaneers 24

Miami Dolphins vs Los Angeles Chargers (-5)
With Cutler at the helm the Dolphins have a gunslinger, and with decent weapons he'll be better than he was in Chicago. Ajayi will provide balance to open things up and the defense will do enough to keep them in this game. The Chargers started opposite of last year. They lost games they were leading in the fourth quarter and this year after struggling all game against a great Brocos defense almost pulled off a double digit come back to tie the game. They won't need that this week.
Dolphins 20 - Chargers 27

New York Jets vs Oakland Raiders (-13)
This one's easy. The Jets are horrible and the Raiders are great. Blow out.
Jets 10 - Raiders 27

Dallas Cowboys (-2.5) vs Denver Broncos
My Cowboys looked impressive. The offense looked pretty good against a great Giants defense that got worn out because their offense couldn't do anything without OBJ. The Broncos offense will do better than the Giants but I'm hoping will still struggle against a young over achieving Dallas defense. This is gonna be a close one but I'll pick my team because I'm biased.
Cowboys 20 - 17

Washington Redskins vs Los Angeles Rams (-2.5)
The Redskins looked out of whack is week 1. The offense struggled and that affected the defense which played pretty well. I don't expect that to change too much against a really good Rams defense that's getting Donald back. Goff looks like he's playing calmer and having better receivers in Watson and Kupp looks like it's helped.
Redskins 10 - Rams 20

San Francisco 49ers vs Seattle Seahawks (-14)
The 49ers actually played better than I thought against the Panthers. That being said, the offense is still struggling and the defense was on the field too much but played pretty well. The Seattle offense didn't look very good against a good Packers defense but I think they will finally score a touchdown against a 49er defense that will be get worn down from being on the field too much.
49ers 6 - Seattle 20

Green Bay Packers vs Atlanta Falcons (-3)
Green Bay played solid on defense and Rodgers was really good against a strong defense. I believe the Falcons played pretty evenly against a Bears team they should've beaten pretty easily. The defense is good but not as good as Seattle's.
Packers 24 - Falcons 17

Detroit Lions vs New York Giants (-3.5)
Stafford made sure to prove his pay day was deserved. Golloday lived up to the hype and the defense held its own and made Palmer look bad. The Giants offense struggled badly. Offensive line has a lot of work to do and needs to do more to help a defense that was on the field too long. They should play better at home but it won't be enough.
Lions 20 - Giants 13

My bets:
Ravens (-8)
Panthers (-7.5)
Cardinals (-7)
Saints (+6.5)
Raiders (-13)
Rams (-2.5)
Packers (-3)
Lions (+3.5)

Locks of the week:
Ravens (-8)
Panthers (-7.5)
Cardinals (-7)
