Desire mapping & a calm inbox

in #newyear7 years ago

I'm still trying to get the hang of steemit - I love the idea, the format and the people (mostly), but I haven't been able to figure out how to make it work for me. I was intending to invest some time here over Christmas when I was home with my family. In fact, I'd even asked my mother to sign up for an account so we could explore it together. However, that was derailed slightly when she lost her password! She is now having problems setting up another account, as it says her mobile is already in use - does anyone have any idea about how to get around that?

I'm still on leave from work and have been thinking about how I can get a little more in control of my work-life balance this year. I've been reading Danielle LaPorte's 'Desire Map' on and off for a while, but this Christmas it seems to have sunk in.

'How do you want to feel' seems like a simple question, but actually working that out has been incredibly hard! In fact, I don't think I'm there yet... If you watched the trailer and were intrigued, you might like this interview with Marie Forleo.

Although my core desired feelings are still very much a work in progress, I do know that I need more space in 2018... Less physical clutter in my home and office, less in my diary and more time outside.

I'm not entirely sure how to actually make this happen, but I've decided to start small and to implement small changes regularly. It's taken me a long time, but I've finally come to appreciate that slow and steady almost always wins in the end.

I like the idea of sharing my progress on steemit. So, on to my first small change of 2018! A colleague of mine has a lovely note on her email signature -'This is a calm inbox, it will be checked once in the am and once in the pm.' I've been wanting to try something similar for several months, so when I saw a comment about Inbox Pause on twitter this afternoon, I decided to check it out.

It looks amazing, you can pause your inbox anytime, and/or set it up so that your mail only comes through at designated times. I don't know how it will work out for me, but just putting it on (no more email for me until 8am tomorrow!) made me feel relaxed, like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

Have any of you tried it? Are there any other tools I should try out in order to calm my inbox?
