New Account Creation - 4 or 5 days is unacceptable
In Steemspeak we have people showing up not knowing what to do because they can't create an account. I hear the same thing is happening in Rocketchat. We have this great window of time where people are interested in Crypto and SteemIt and we are wasting an opportunity.
As a user/investor what can I do to help this process? I will volunteer a couple of hours a day to help confirm new sign ups. I will use any vetting process you want.
Seriously, how can I help solve this problem?
The onboarding process is an essential element to any social platform. This is needs to be a top priority fix even it slows progress on other work.
I agree. This is an attention economy. Many of these people stumbled across SteemIt, and were curious. Will they still be curious, when we get around to "allowing" them to use the site? Grrrr.
I agree this is a little frustrating for the new users! Hopefully they it fixed soon!
More than frustration. How many times have you thought, I will check that out.. If you couldn't, how many times did it just fade out of your awareness. MOST of the time.
That is a great point!
It's really bad timing.
Sooo bad!
Exactly how are we supposed to try to bring people over...to wait in line...not good!
I joined this week.
Waited for too long.
In between, I already created a post to publish.
And yes, it should be much easier - and faster...
Otherwise people just forget about it too.
I don't know any technicalities. I don't even know why approval takes so longer.
Do it instantly like Gmail - perhaps add phone verification to stop fake sign ups.
Thanks for volunteering, that's kind of you TBH.
How about linking anonsteem on the account creation page so they are aware that there is another option if they really want an account quickly?
It is the Internet. We will likely lose the opportunity to service these people.
Some might be willing to buy an account if they're aware that it's possible.
I also think whales and orcas should be willing to front some Steem and validate new users ourselves. Steemit Inc isn't the only one who benefit from a growing userbase, and it would decentralize the sign up process somewhat.
So, that answers the numerous accounts that I have seen but just wondering what good can it offer to us newbies.
Do you have the contacts to help organize this? If so, how can I help?
Did you find any solution ?
=]
LOL no I don't, I only have myself.
We could create a steemit.chat channel dedicated to verifying and creating accounts for new users. We'd have to co-ordinate in some way to prevent people from defrauding separate validators.
Did you create chat for that mater ?
Because I have friends who want to join, and they wait more then a month !!!
Please help, if you have any information !
=]
No, we didn't. Sorry to hear about your difficulties. The next planned hard fork will address this issue somewhat.
Thank you for addressing this on going problem lately. Indeed, a missed opportunity. I have a friend who tried to sign up but adviced to just wait for the approval. @whatsup
This should be considered a critical error and resources should be allocated to resolving this. This is the Internet in 2017. It is unacceptable.
I'm waiting to say goodbye to facebook until this gets straightened out. How can I tell all my friends/family to follow me over here??? oh but you have to wait like a week to use your new account. please fix it and thanks for volunteering
You are absolutely right. In the last few weeks I've tried to sign-up several new users, and always have error messages or delays. Very embarrassing when you talk half an hour to a person saying how great Steemit is, and then… I hope it will be fixed ASAP
Absolutely!
