FIDO Alliance and W3C have a plan to kill the password
Hearing all the recent hacking news it is pretty clear that Passwords aren’t effective in this world of increasing sensitive information.
Thanks to FIDO Alliance & W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) who have found a simple and stronger way of logging into websites called WebAuthn.
This new method will require to have an external authenticator such as a security key or smart phone to access your accounts and will be connected through Bluetooth, USB or NFC. Users will get a prompt generated on their smart phone when attempting to login to a website.

The major browsers Google with Chrome, Mozilla with Firefox & Microsoft with Edge have all agreed to incorporate the new protocol.
WebAuthn is not quite ready and is a step away from the general availability, which is currently in Candidate Recommendation (CR) stage for final approvals.
I'm getting sick and tired of this BS. I still haven't move on from Google security features locking my own account. I hate these guys making too much security updates which sometimes unnecessary.
Feel sorry for you. In a way i do agree with these unnecessary updates but this is about protecting our privacy and should adapt to it.
You're right. I guess there's nothing much I can do about that.
I can't wait for this app to come out. Hackers have had their fun for far too long. I think with such an app it's going to make it extremely difficult now. Yes, they will still hack some people, those who do not know that there's a better way to login to websites or those who simply resist to change. So if you don't want to adapt you will suffer. But it's a no brainer really, to protect yourself this will be a great app indeed.
Well i can't either have heard too much about accounts getting hacked now days.
Hackers will never go away and one day for sure will find a way also to break this too, but it's always better to protect yourself in the first instance and regret later.
Very informative and thanks for sharing. Pl vote, comments
