Portugal raging fires sweep almost all districts ! [ongoing]
This is unbelieveble, the amount of fires that sparked in the last days, weeks, months and years.
But this year it is too flagrant ! I can blame incendiaries, people that don't clean terrains, geoengineering, wood scams, but the numbers are just astonishing ! Only 3 districts escaped the flames.
- 270 ocurrences in one day
- About 60 in 3 hours
- Several villages in different occurences / places evacuated, at one time tonight there were 6 villages evacuated, as the biggest fires covered at least 50km.
- 3000/4000 firemen on the ground
- Besides planes and helicopters (some borrowed, or yet rented!), a platoon of each, navy, army and marines are on the ground exceptionally.
- European emergency help requested
- Already spanish and other planes helping as always (payed, we have few, we have 2 submarines tough..)
In these last days there have been hundreds of fires each day, dozens of injured and there was in June 60+ deaths in one or two days at Pedrogao Grande fires.
I have personally already seen some very early begining of a few fires this summer, and just drove near another big ones already going, in places where people have no other choice but to let it burn and near catastrophe..
It also shows that the wood bussiness isn't very wise, or safe.
It's almost like a warzone, or tsunami... you just can't escape
