The Emely Peguero case: The murder that is stirring the Dominican Republic. STOP!!
A week ago reported the disappearance of a 15-year-old girl named Emily Peguero, a young woman who according to her mother was very calm, liked to be at home and good at her studies.
This young man had a relationship with another young man for 4 years, despite his age, his mother accepted the relationship because he saw that this was a great young man and could give a good future to his daughter because they lived in poverty. This young man is economically well-off since his mother was the old mayor of his province.
5 months ago Emely believed that she was pregnant, it was very difficult for her and after several tests her suspicions were true, she had to make the difficult decision to communicate to her mother and she did, despite the rejection she suffered from many people in society, Emely decided to have it, something that did not please the groom and his family.
5 months after her pregnancy the boyfriend went to pick her up to take her to a medical examination and to vaccinate her, and she would never come back. Although the doctors confirm that the young woman attended the medical appointment, according to the young man, she asked him very insistently after an argument that he left her at a gas station, in that place he says that he saw a self- middle age.
Meanwhile, Emely's mother was desperate because the hours passed and she did not arrive, which is why she decided to call the boyfriend, who explained what happened, is when his mother decides to report his disappearance to the authorities.
The police decide to investigate the main suspect, the boyfriend, and after several investigations and according to what I have heard, after torture, decided to confess everything.
According to her boyfriend what happened was that neither his family, especially his mother, the ex-mayor of his province did not want the child of Emely, that is why, after leaving the doctor the kidnapping and took to isolated apartments in the city, it is there where some doctors, hired by the mother of the groom, practice an abortion, which is illegal in the Dominican Republic, however, was many months and was the first so I could not stand the process and died.
It is then when the mother of the young man pays 100,000 Dominican pesos that are about 1800 dollars to a young person to disappear the body and does in a landfill of the municipality Moca, after several days, agents found the body inside a suitcase and wrapped in plastic bags.
For the young woman's family it was very painful since inside they were hoping that their daughter was well somewhere.
Many speak of this young man and his mother not paying as they deserve to do as his mother's political past and strong relationships can help him in this, however, social media and the people are demanding justice for this horrendous murder.
Playing with the life of a person in this way seems very cruel, is one of the aspects that are exposing our social and political system.
