California has CANCER Coffee - Judge Rules that Coffee has to CANCER label!
A judge in California ruled today that coffee sold in the state has to have a warning label, similar to cigarettes. This ruling was made because coffee contains the chemical acrylamide, which though it is a known carcinogen, is found in very trace amounts in coffee after it has undergone the roasting process.
This, even though there is no known scientific study that has shown that coffee is linked to an increase in cancer, is a ruling that is now in place. Court rulings of this nature are rarely overturned or reversed, though.
My Take
- So, CA takes another step backwards from science and chooses once again to be a state where common sense doesn't reign, but feelings-based activism, instead.
