LAS VEGAS - Students at McKinley Elementary School launched a $1200 crowdfunding campaign to cover the cost of their classroom teacher's wifi bill for the school year. The campaign was successful and collected over $1500.

Students in Ms.Steele's third grade class knew she needed the help when they saw her selling lemonade in front of the school because she couldn't use the internet to fundraise for her classroom, like most teacher's in the 21st century. Due to low teacher pay and funding from the school district, teachers ,like Ms.Steele , are forced to pay out of pocket for basic classroom supplies. These include: glue sticks, pencils, notebooks, wide ruled paper, and erasers.

This report comes after several state wide, teacher walkouts across the nation. The current average teacher salary is $58,950.00
