Huge hole opens up in California Dam
This is a heads up for people living in Sacramento and North of the city. A huge hole has openned up in the spillway of Ovoville Dam which is about 80 miles north of Sacramento. A spillway is a safety system built into dams to prevent water from going to over the top of them.
The Damage is very extensive and won't be easy to fix.
If heavy rains continue the dam my be forced to use the spillway and damage it even more or worse let water go over the top of the damn and risk total failure which would cause major flooding downstream.
Yuba City and Marysville will probably only have a couple hours notice if this dam starts to fail.
Lets hope the engineers can figure out a way to patch this hole before another round of heavy rains.
Wow wow wow..!! This is a massive massive massive problem. Repairing that is a mega project. This isn't just a quick fix. Should the level rise and major spill over occur the result would be devasting. Stephen

Wow!
Hopefully those in harms way are preparing to evacuate. I would think that those in immediate danger would already be evacuating.
If I remember correctly there is another rain/snow storm headed for California.
Stay safe,
Mike
Thanks for the heads up !
I should also note that the city of Oroville is in danger too.
