Burger King's Own Scientific Study Shows Their Burger Dramatically Inceases Nightmares!

in #news6 years ago (edited)

What will it take for the eaters of dead animals to wake up? Maybe repetitive nightmares?

News hit today that Burger King is using bizarre and twisted logic (that will sadly possibly work due to epidemic levels of denial in humanity) to advertise a halloween burger that literally is scientifically shown to cause nightmares.

In partnership with the Paramount Trials and Florida Sleep & Neuro Diagnostic Services, Inc. and Goldforest Inc., the Burger King® brand conducted a scientific study over 10 nights with 100 participants (or should we say victims?) who ate the Nightmare King before they went to bed. By tracking various signals from the sleeping subjects including their heart rate, brain activity and breath, a group of doctors and scientists identified whether the individuals had vivid dreams.

“According to previous studies, 4% of the population experiences nightmares in any given night” said Dr. Jose Gabriel Medina, a specialized somnologist and the study’s lead doctor. “But, after eating the Nightmare King, the data obtained from the study indicated that the incidence of nightmares increased by 3.5 times.”

Dr. Medina points out that the unique combination of proteins and cheese in the Nightmare King led to “an interruption of the subjects’ REM (Rapid Eye Movement) cycles, during which we experience the majority of our dreams.”

As plant based Doctor Neal Barnard points out:

Of course, nightmares aren’t as scary another sleep-related consequence of fatty animal products: sleep apnea, which can be caused by obesity and is linked to high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and other health conditions. A recent study found that participants who consumed high-fat diets experienced more severe sleep apnea compared to those who consumed diets with less fat. More than two servings of dairy a day and processed meat intake also worsened symptoms.

But rest easy, a plant-based diet can provide sweet dreams. One study found that diets rich in fiber and low in saturated fat can lead to deeper, more restorative sleep. It’s not uncommon for people who have improved their diets to report that they feel energized during the day and sleep better at night. When reporter Jere Downs traded greasy burgers and fries for green smoothies and chickpea sandwiches on a vegan challenge, she reported that her “sleep is deep and uninterrupted. My eyes pop open at 6 a.m.”

So nix the Nightmare King and try our Good Night’s Sleep Garbanzo Bean Burger instead.

So if you don't want to literally cause a nightmare for yourself and for the animals of this world - the vegan approach is the way to go.

Wishing you well,

Last time I ate at Burger king was around the year 2000.

Sometimes I still have nightmares.

haha.. i think the last time I tried to eat in there I was drunk and they actually threw me out for wobbling.. amazing.. that was a long time ago.

I could tell you a burger king story.

However, today is not that day.

I don't know if those in the study understood that there was an intention to create nightmares - but if it were properly controlled then they wouldn't. Thanks!

That does sound like the sort of thing that a company would advertise nowadays. And it's likely that more people will actually buy the burgers as a result. Weird. Just weird.

Fascinating.

Having recently read 'Why We Sleep' by Mathew Walker (I highly recommend it) I'm v. interested in sleep.

Although I think the headlines on the news reports here are misleading.

Interuption of REM sleep (when we dream) is not the same as having nightmares.

Interuption of REM is bad in itself btw.... you can literally suffer hallucinations when awake if you're denied it persistently.

Walker goes into it in great depth and rigour.

I think the logged actual nightmares too - but I haven't read the study.

I really dont know what to say here. Except for they will probably sell out. ☹

Well, maybe it's just an evolutionary process where those with a death wish, get their wish! :/

LOL, you might be on to something. Darwin awards for all the carnists who deny the evidence that is freely available?

Karma exists! What you put out is what you get back.

Maybe it is the caffeine of the softdrink along with the burgers can disturb sleep and cause nightmares.

They specifically highlighted the proteins in the cheese and meat as being the causal factor here. :/

There are many other things in BK's burgers that are more of a causal connection to nightmares.

Sure, there are some advantages to a vegetarian diet, but so the same is being shown with an all meat diet. I really dislike the immediate jump to "it must be the meat".

The biggest thing that should be looked at is that these fast foods are no-nutrition, high-calorie meals. So, you are literally starving yourself. While starving yourself comes with much emotional trauma. And thus, nightmares.

There are also several chemical compounds that BK burgers have in them that give me (sensitive) a headache. I would imagine the less sensitive people to not have a headache, but to have nightmares or some other stressor.

I have no doubt that there are other factors involved too - yes; however, I will not overlook the stress hormones and the lack of the kind of broad spectrum nutritional balance that comes from wholefood plant based options.
