One Good Reason Not To Believe Craig Wright

... but there are so many more.

Court Filing

On January 10th, 2020, Craig S. Wright, who claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto creator of Bitcoin, stated to the United States District Court Southern District of Florida that a bonded courier delivered to him the keys to Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin (aka Craig's Bitcoin, if you believe him).

Dr. Craig Wright files this Notice of Compliance with this Court’s Order dated January10, 2020 [D.E. 373]. Specifically, Dr. Wright notifies the Court that a third party has provided the necessary information and key slice to unlock the encrypted file, and Dr. Wright has produced a list of his bitcoin holdings, as ordered by the Magistrate Judge, to plaintiffs today.

This in itself would prove to most interested parties that Craig Wright in fact was telling the truth and is who he claims to be, Satoshi Nakamoto. However when you dig deeper into the story it is revealed that he actually didn't provide any proof regarding the bonded courier or what exactly may have been delivered.

On the 10th of January, by his own admission, Mr. Wright only provided a cache of 16,404 used Bitcoin addresses to the court and the Kleinman estate counsel, who are suing Craig for a reported $10 Billion, alleging that Mr. Wright was trying to seize David Kleinman's Bitcoin.

In the latest filing by the prosecution on January 14th, 2020, the Kleinman estates counsel had this to say ...

On January 14, 2019 Craig filed a notice with the Court claiming he’s complied with Judge Reinhart’s order and provided Plaintiffs with the list of his bitcoin public addresses. ECF No. [376]. The document produced by Craig is simply a list of 16,404 addresses. Craig , however, did not provide any information on the bounded courier, the company he/she worked for, when he/she came, or the message delivered.

Court History

And this takes us back to February of 2010, when Mr. Wright was "drawn into a flame war" on SECLists.org with a person named "Tim" that went by the nickname "Thor". And as you might have surmised by the flame war reference, the discussion became rather heated in no time and a bet was made that reached $100,000.

One of the more humorous parts of the exchange (although irrelevant to this discussion, I include it to simply show how clueless Mr. Wright apparently is when it comes to security) was a discussion regarding the bet Mr. Wright proposed stating that Tim/Thor could not hack into a system setup by Mr. Wright, and Tim/Thor responded with this gem below ...

"Not only will I take your money, and ruin your reputation in this bet, but I'll tell you how I will do it UP FRONT. Will that be fair enough? Go ahead. Set up your system. If I have someone show up at the door with a shotgun and ask for the hardware, do I win? Or will you cry "Hey, that's not fair. Do over!" Do you not think the criminals of the
world do things like that? Where in your formula do you plug that in? Do you even know what the majority of the breaches in the world are from? What about when I call a student and say "Hey dude. There's $25,000 cash in it for you if you give me the admin password." Would you cry foul? Where in your formula do you plug that eventuality in? Don't forget that you said "Thor can do whatever he wants."

Deep within this discussion however, Tim/Thor discovered a bit of court history on Mr. Wright and decided his bet with him was rather pointless considering Mr. Wright's history.

"The documents referenced show filing by The Supreme Court of NSW that you willfully ignored court orders, that you lied under oath, and that you purposefully submitted false evidence to the court"

Read the full discussion, it's rather entertaining.

And for me, that's one good reason to never believe Craig S. Wright without verifiable proof, which from my point of view he has yet to provide on just about any of his claims.

But Wait ... There's More!

That's one good reason not to believe Craig S. Wright is telling the truth, but here are some others if you're interested!
