Someone Died While Watching The Conjuring 2

Horror movies have a unique way of affecting audience members. Where else does a room full of strangers jump, scream, and laugh their way through a terrifying big screen adventure? But with jump scares being served by the handful, it can be a bit dangerous for members of the audience who are longer in the tooth, or perhaps have heart conditions. Sadly, a moviegoer in India suffered a recent tragedy and passed away while watching James Wan's horror sequel The Conjuring 2.

DNA India is reporting that a 65 year old man from Andrah Pradesh, India suffered a tragic heart attack while watching The Conjuring 2. This incident occurred Thursday night, in a movie theater in Tamil Nadu. The man reportedly complained of chest pain while he was in the theater, and suffered a heart attack during the movie itself. An ambulance was immediately called to assist the gentleman, but he unfortunately passed away before the help could arrive. While the victim's name was not released with the report, our hearts go out to his loved ones at this difficult time.

The Conjuring 2 definitely doesn't seem like a film that is friendly to those who have heart problems. The horror sequel is chock full of jump scares, and very effective ones at that. Director James Wan has an impressive ability to create heart racing suspense and create horrifying monsters to serve as antagonists. The Conjuring 2 has both The Nun and Crooked Man who serve to keep the audience full of anxiety and terror.

In fact, The Nun character was so terrifying that a spinoff film has been announced revolving around the monster. This is the second Conjuring spinoff to be ordered, after 2014's Annabelle. The creepy doll only had one scene in the original Conjuring, but it was scary enough to warrant a spinoff movie of its own. The Nun, on the other hand, was present throughout The Conjuring 2, so it makes more sense that the villain would get its own movie.

It is currently unclear if the man who passed away during The Conjuring 2 was aware of a preexisting heart issue before seeing the film. But signs point to he and whoever he went to the movie with being blindsided by the tragedy. But you can certainly tell from the promotional material that The Conjuring 2 was going to be absolutely terrifying, especially with how well received and scary the first film was.
