Tell me some good news!

What do people do when they are in love ? They talk non-stop about their love! Whether you want to hear about it or not!

What do people do when they've got something exciting news?

They can't wait to tell everyone!!

If you have children, think of when you found out you were having a baby. How much did you want to tell everyone? You can't wait for those first 12 weeks to pass, so you can have the scan and show that wonderful scan picture to everyone!!!

Good news is hard to contain. Naturally, we want people to share in our joy.

This is exactly what Peter and John were doing in Acts 3 & 4. They were minding their own business, on their way to pray and they saw a lame man begging by the temple. They couldn't leave him there like that. They had to share with him the life that they had found. Peter healed the man, and the people all around wanted to know what was going on, of course. This man had been born lame, and here he was dancing around the temple!

Peter and John shared the good news of the gospel with the crowd that evening, and ended up at the end of it being arrested. The next day, at the impromptu trial that had all the high priestly men from the region there, despite them all having no grounds to dispute the miracle and hence the truth of the words that Peter and John had given (i.e. that this was done through the power of the name of Jesus), they asked Peter and John not to share their good news any more.

Gosh, what a predicament! You've been arrested for bringing someone health, and transforming a life, then told "Hey, don't you go telling people they can get healed, and don't go telling people about that Jesus!"

Peter and John, uneducated fishermen, responded with such wisdom:
"Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge."

WHAM! What a response! But they go on to say this:
"For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard"

We cannot but speak of good things.

Of course we can't.

We do it about trivial things such as great bargain we've found somewhere - we tell our friends to go check it out before the deal ends.

How then, could we not share news that affects people's eternities? How can we not share the amazing news that GOD LOVES US?

How can we not, if we truly and unequivocally believe that Jesus died for us, and that He is asking us to believe in Him and receive eternal life....how can we not share the most amazing news ever??!

If you believe something with all your heart, and you know it is good news, you will share it.

So, if you're reading this, and you're wondering why Christians can't but speak of the things they have seen and heard, it's because it's too good to keep to ourselves.

You are free to take it or leave it, but we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

It's true that people keep talking non-stop about their crush when they fall in love. I noticed it in my colleague, even though she strongly denied that.

Absolutely agree! When there's exciting news, it's like a burst of happiness that's impossible to contain. Just like with the gospel Peter and John shared in Acts, it's the kind of news that changes lives and brings hope. It's funny how we're wired to share good things, whether it's a great deal, a heartwarming story, or the ultimate news of God's love. It's a reminder that some things are just too amazing to keep to ourselves. By the way, have you ever tried to unscramble American dialects? It's a fun way to keep the brain engaged while enjoying these meaningful discussions. Keep spreading the good news!
