Garrison Keillor Fired by Minnesota Public Radio: Is Everybody a Creep?

No, not Garrison Keillor, Just No!

The news is really getting depressing out there. On the other hand, maybe it's good news that some paper tigers have been lit on fire. But first it was Al Franken, and now it's Garrison Keillor. In case you're not familiar with him, he's the folksy creator of the Prairie Home Companion. People describe this guy with adjectives like "homespun." It's not that I was such a big fan, but he was like a grandpa, only he told family-friendly stories on the radio. Since he's been on the radio since 1869, he's also pretty old.

Just recently, NPR fired him because of allegations of inappropriate behavior. His explanations make his actions appear innocent. However, he did get fired from NPR, where he's been working for a really long time. Since NPR took the pretty drastic move of erasing his content from their broadcasts and website, it's fair to assume that the allegations were valid. In fact, NPR hired an outside law firm to investigate before they did anything. Unlike some other high-profile celebrities who have been called out for behaving badly, this doesn't appear political at all.

I don't know what to make of this, but I'm suffering from a bit of angst.
