Miners vs Gamers: AMD RX Vega is on the way

in #news7 years ago (edited)

AMD have updated their radeon.com website with information for the upcoming RX Vega, the much awaited GPU for gamers and pesky miners.

The GPU/CPU company have listed the community meetup roadmap:

  • Akvárium Klub in Budapest, Hungary, July 18,from 2 to 7 CET;
  • PDXLAN in Portland, USA, from July 21 to 23;
  • SIGGRAPH 2017 in Los Angeles, USA, last week of July.

The last stop at SIGGRAPH is where we finally meet head-to head with the RX Vega, as just as AMD promised.

Recent leaks showcasing synthetic testing results suggest that the top RX Vega GPU will perform slightly better than nVidia GTX 1080, which if priced accordingly, will bring a lot of value to gamers and miners.

I hope these GPUs don´t get sold out in an hour.

I dream of owning an AMD GPU, let's hope things will settle down nice and easy.

Will be curious to see the benchmarks on these here soon. 1080 hashes at about 700-800h/s Slightly better for this card 830 or 900 + thats the big question. Plus Nvidia GPUs seem to run with less heat and quieter along with less power.

nvidia definitely delivers a ton of performance efficiently, I kinda think the RX Vega won't outperform nvidia's top GPU in gaming, and probably won't offer more profitability for miners as well. This tells the story right, AMD invested all into the ZEN architecture and left the Radeon a bit behind, but is it a bad thing?

The future offerings by both companies will be interesting, AMD will push for the scalability with Navi similar to Ryzen, and nvidia recently announced their intention to follow. So AMD seems to have prepared the technology developed for Ryzen for the future GPUs as well.

Can't wait for that!
