An interesting project is that of Nexo, a company that started collecting funds on KickStarter for its wheels that ensure safe travel without fear of drilling; Nexo guarantees that I'm totally nails and cuts. Although the airless wheels are not a novelty, they have never been used because of the poor rigidity and ability to absorb shocks.

But the new tires proposed by this Utah company appear to be the solution to these problems. The wheels are constructed of a mixture of polymers which, according to Nexo, provides the perfect combination of weight and strength amortization, while also providing a long life. If you are worried about transporting additional ballast using these wheels, do not worry: they have exactly the same weight as normal wheels.

Nexo is, in other words, a technological jewel that is the result of hours and hours of research in this field.

The product has two different versions: tires to be mounted on old-style wheels (those used by air tires) with an average life of 5000 km, and others using a dedicated wheel support, capable of ensuring 8,000 km of travel.

For the average cyclist, 5000 km are equivalent to years of use of their own bike, without fear of having to drill.

Wheels are also made from extremely simple materials to recycle, which is really important if we think that 10 tons of tons of bicycle tires and air chambers end up in landfills each year in the world.

Unlike normal wheels that require 8-9 machining steps, the Nexo is built simply by injecting molded material into a mold, utilizing much less energy and materials.

Chain chemical bonds used in NEXELL polymers make them stable against water and oxygen active reactions (O3 Ozone), which are known to be capable of ruining tires.
