On the recent fight between Turkish bodyguards and US protestors

It's clear Erdogan caused this minor "crisis" intentionally. I thought he only wanted to create tension with the EU to fuel the perception of "external enemies" within Turkey. Perhaps he wants them to hate the entire West like Russia. That might fuel the nationalisme and help solidify his power grab.

Or maybe he's just acting out in the hope that the US will act more Turkey-friendly (anti-kurdish) in Syria to keep the good relations.

He gave the command, his guards wouldn't have attacked otherwise.
