His name was Mariner Durant. He was a 3rd party candidate for mayor of Meridian, MS, when he suddenly dropped out and came to Reddit alleging he was being shot at by the police. He was found dead 2 weeks ago, of a gunshot to the head.

Mariner Durant was an up-and-coming star of the Libertarian Party. Sick of the corruption in his town of Meridian, Mississippi, he decided to run for mayor. And apparently he had a good shot at winning, when he suddenly dropped out of the race, citing "security concerns".

Around that time, he came to Reddit claiming he had been harassed, run off the road, and even shot at by police. Unfortunately, all of his comments about the situation have been deleted.
