HOUSTON ROCKETS look great at 12:1 odds

in #news7 years ago

With addition of the best point guard in the NBA, Chris Paul, and the resigning of Nene on the cheap, Houston has REALLY moved themselves into position to challenge Golden State for reals. We have them at a deadlock, altho we must favor the team with 3 Finals appearances in a row.

The Chris Paul trade wasn't cost free, as Daryl Morey unfortunately had to get rid of Patrick Beverly who played great from the two, but since Harden will be moving to the 2 and Chris Paul manning point during their time together, plus 100% of game minutes being manned by one of the three (Harden & Paul & Steph) best PGs in the NBA-- Houston and D'Antoni's high-powered offense have really stepped up. Harden might be able to save some juice for the defensive end of the court this year, and hopefully Chris Paul beams some influence on the Beard.

Weakest players are now Eric Gordon & Ryan Anderson, assuming they stick, but addition of PJ Tucker makes for a much stronger bench, at least competitive with GSW's Shaun Livingston and ZaZa (when Draymond is center). If Houston lands a shooter at the trade deadline or in the coming months, you might wish you plunked down some Steempower onto Houston at 12:1 odds.

Since we have them close to evenly matched, compare Houston's odds to GSW's -150 (0.7 to 1 odds). That's a HUGE margin, one to be exploited.

You could always bet on GSW later in the season, perhaps when a star goes down, or they lose a few games in the playoffs next May.

Nice post, but no, Rockets aren't there yet with GSW. Resigning Nene helps..but where's the D? Beverly was their best (only?) defender

Agree on Beverly being a high cost, but remember it was Chris Paul in return.
More than anything, loss of guys like Dekker and Montrezl might hurt more next year, for their bench.
But seriously, they are close to GSW, close enough to push a 4-3 series in a playoff matchup, and run away with it if any injuried befall GSW. Remember, 2 of last 3 Finals were won due to injuries/ejections. 2015 was Love and Kyrie down, 2016 was Draymond suspension and Bogut (rim protector) out for final two games.

The plot thickens in the West. Nice post!

Thickens ever MORE now that Carmelo is on the table.
We don't like Houston if they sign him, ironically, but maybe Paul can teach both Harden and Melo to play defense, and Melo to learn team-ball instead of ISO?
When are you posting another article, been too long?

I think that team can work even tough all 3 of them are ball dominant players. They are also world-class players so they will l know how to play with each other I think. I usually post daily!

I hope they keep Eric Gordon, I think he's a valuable 6th man for them...but Anderson is definitely disposable! Still think the Warriors are strong favorites regardless, but it'll be more fun to watch!

If they trade for "Melo" they might lose one or both.
Gotta say, starting to NOT like the bet so much if they sign CAnthony.

What about this trade: Melo to the Rockets, Anderson to the Pistons (who flourished in Orlando with Van Gundy), and Reggie Jackson to the Knicks. Somewhere in there will be a draft pick going to either the Knicks or Pistons.

The Knicks get the veteran PG to mentor the rookie, plus they get rid of Melo. The Rockets finally get rid of their own bad contract, while obviously obtaining a star in Melo. And the Magic get Anderson, who can help space the floor for the Magic and Drummond...and getting rid of Reggie who they don't really like.

Just saying...that could be an amazing trade for everybody involved.

amazing for everyone but the team that gets Melo. He don't play no defense.

They do look good actually. 12/1 odds for a team like the Rockets definitely is great value. It's just tough to put any $ on a team other than the Warriors coming out of the West. Just don't think they will succeed especially in the first year together.

Sure, but remember GSW could be a single injury away from not competing, right? (Durant, Curry, Green)
Also, the disparity in the odds is the advantage, not that Houston has a higher probability to win.
You can always bet on GSW towards end of season, and the odds aren't going to get much worse.
