Breaking News - New cyber-attacks around the world scares the big countries!!!!!!!

in #news7 years ago (edited)

seven-nation finance ministers discussed the issue of cyber security on Saturday, a day after cyber-attacks described by the European Police Office (Europol) as "unprecedented."

The draft statement of the Group of Seven finance ministers meeting in Bari, southern Italy, pledged the signatories to unify efforts to combat the growing threat of international cyber-attacks. The draft called for joint practices to monitor any weaknesses in the global financial system quickly and stressed the importance of effective financial and sector action by States to assess the status of electronic security.

Italian Finance Minister Pierre-Carlo Paduan told reporters that the discussions, which were scheduled before Friday's attacks, came "in a timely manner with regret."

For its part, the Europol office confirmed that the attacks that targeted tens of thousands of computers in about 100 countries were "at an unprecedented level and will require a complex international investigation to know the culprits."
He pointed out that the European Center for Combating Cybercrime "collaborates with electronic crime units in the affected countries and industrial partners to reduce the threat and help the victims."

Complaints over the past few hours from various countries and major companies and institutions have been driven by cyber-attacks by unknown pirates, causing many services to be disrupted.
Researchers at the Avast security software company said they had detected 57,000 cases in 99 countries, with Russia, Ukraine and Taiwan the hardest hit.

The most devastating attacks were in Britain, where hospitals and clinics were forced to dispose of patients after they lost access to their computers.Per analysts at Force Point Security Labs, the attack was a "major campaign of malicious e-mails".
The virus was used in the process of hacking e-virus "Wana Decerbeter," per the British public health service. The virus encrypts the contents of the computer it attacks in order to ask the owner for a ransom in exchange for enabling the encryption key.

The Kaspersky Russian Information Security Foundation said WannaCry, the "I want to cry" virus, yesterday carried out more than 45,000 piracy attempts in more than 70 countries around the world.

The US authorities on Friday warned of a wave of simultaneous cyber-attacks in "many countries of the world" by a malicious information program aimed at obtaining ransom, appealing to victims of these attacks not to pay money to pirates.

The wave of cyber-attacks has raised the concern of computer security experts who have pointed out that hackers may have benefited from a security flaw in Windows systems revealed by confidential US National Security Agency documents that have been hacked.

Events like this always appear to have a 'Government solution' at the end of them!

The "WannaCry" ransomware of the past day or two was, amusingly, mitigated by private citizens without Government involvement. The malware had a built in "Kill Switch", where if it was able to talk to a website at a domain, it would quit. That domain was not registered, so a lovely chap registered it and pointed it at a webserver... Stopping the malware spreading.

I doubt version 2 of this malware will have such a kill switch...

Infected ones are not get latest updates from Microsoft.

Someone suggested that it may be a false flag to kickstart their private agenda; that is to legitimise their dirty works under the guise of "unknown hacker" cyberattacks just like they did in 9/11 to creates terrorism attacks world-wide now taking place over over the world. Terrorists are just pawn in their bigger scheme of things in their hidden and real agenda.
Methink these people that think this way might be right!

Cyber attacks will be the legitimate war excuse in a decade.

hehe, its more than likely it will be lol
