Pokemon Go is the future and could save countries billions

in #news8 years ago (edited)

Pokemon Go has received a lot of bad press as of late.

Predominantly surrounding incidents where users of the game have been SO stupid that they've caused crashes on motorways;

or been trapped in caves;

Or just been so inept of basic human abilities;

It's also getting a lot of stick from 'cool' people. People who just want to voice an opinion for the sake of voicing an opinion. People who are way too 'cool' and 'mature' to play the game. In my honest opinion, I don't think you can be too 'cool' or 'mature' to play ANYTHING that gets you moving about and exercising.

Obesity is a huge, huge problem in countries across the world. It is one of the leading causes in heart disease and costs the UK £billions each year. 'Obesity reduces life expectancy by an average of three years, or eight to ten years in the case of severe obesity (BMI over 40). Around 8% of annual deaths in Europe (at least one in 13) have been attributed to overweight and obesity.'

In the UK, the cost of obesity in 2007 was estimated at £15.7 billion. £4.2 billion of this was a cost to the NHS.

I don't care what anyone says, those are frightening facts.

The simple science behind it is; to lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. There are too many people in today's age who have 9-5 desk jobs and don't exercise enough. I believe that ANYTHING that gets your heart racing (as long as you're sensible and don't go getting lost in caves) is extremely beneficial to your long term health and well being. I believe that the way in which Pokemon Go works can be utilised by so many apps out there. I really feel that Pokemon Go could revolutionise the games we play on our smart phones. I believe that Pokemon Go is the future.
