This Week in the Sndbox

Welcome to the 9th State of the Sndbox newsletter! So far this week, we’ve published the first iteration of our “What NOT to do on Steemit” post. We intend to continuously gather concise but significant tips on the nuanced ins and outs of the platform and technology that don’t warrant a full-length post each on their own but can be collected into an informative list.

We’ve also posted our 2nd updated Master Toolkit with all the resources you would need to learn more about Steemit and Sndbox.

For a more thorough breakdown of what our members have been up to, be sure to go through our weekly Upvotes of the Week post that we publish each Monday.

A Creative Revolution

Yesterday we had the opportunity to start pursuing a series of posts that clearly define the social, cultural, and disciplinary goals of Sndbox in today’s world. To start, we introduce the major hurdles of freelance careers and how blockchain technology can revolutionize creative practice.

As we scale Sndbox and bring in more exciting members from around the world, we’ll be developing and supporting projects that use Steemit in the most impactful ways. We hope to really shake up some stagnant industries and use decentralized methods and shared content production as a new strategy in professional practice.

Each week we’ll introduce the newest @sndbox members and share updates on their work. Be sure to give each of these new Steemians a warm welcome! Follow their profiles for more on their respective interests and practices.

What to Look Out For This Week

For tomorrow, we’ve got a surprise launch of something we’ve been working on since Sndbox’s inception. Stay tuned for an introduction in one of the major ways we’ve been interfacing with a global audience to spread the word of Steemit and Sndbox’s mission.

For Friday, we will present a full overview of our Curation Trail - it’s status and where we see it going from here.

Thanks @dunsky! We like your illustrations too =)

Thank you very much :))

Upcoming Cebu/Phillippines Sndcastle? That's new, and also awesome.

It's very exciting. We're thrilled to have @jassennessaj and @themanualbot onboard :)

Last week I asked:
" @sndbox At what point do you think you guys will reach "critical mass?" I love the idea of what you're doing, and like @minnowsupport, it will be great for the community, but with such a limited scope of creators, it will be a while until you have a diverse offering.

For example, as someone that posts strictly about video games, me commenting on a Sndbox member's post about the current state of the blockchain might be a bit of stretch. I'd be posting simply to get their attention - not out of sincere interest.

Are you guys making any outward efforts to integrate members that offer a wide variety of topics, or are you just hoping for that diversity to occur organically?"

Hi @gamingcrisis, that's a good question regarding cultivating diversity.

We are making outward efforts to onboard a broad range of content creators. Part of this effort comes through "Sndbox Stewards" and "Sndcastles" which we will elaborate more on in tomorrow's posts. Essentially, Stewards come from a wide range of backgrounds (art, writing, music, curation, community-building) and aid the growth of Sndbox by providing nominations.

For the near and long-term, our incubator does want to focus more support towards physical projects that utilize STEEM. (Much like our pilot project "STEEM Park") Here's an interesting example from a member of ours who is a musician -

We should add - critical mass is a good point. We're working to come up with ways of scaling and supporting Sndbox for the long-run. The delegation we received very recently has been a huge resource for us and insures our ability to grow / support the growth of other Steemians.

That's something I have to learn more about. Being able to split your rewards to certain people, I still have a very shallow understanding of how delegation works.

Do you guys have a Discord? Or a place interested people can reach out to you, to see how they can better their content?

We maintain a Slack channel for our members but for content quality and structure, we post everything very openly on our account and you can see the style we try to maintain on our members' accounts =)

Thanks for getting back to me; I almost forgot I was up so late last night on your site :)

I'll keep my eyes open and absorb as much as I can from your sndbox members!

I really appreciate you getting back to me, it was the only concern I had when coming across your platform builder - I was afraid the vetting system might lead to a hive of like-minded individuals with no content variety.

As long as you guys have considered this and are taking steps to avoid the possibility, I'm confident that what you guys are building will be a success.

I look forward to joining your ranks one day ;)

We actively vet referrals and try to nurture a diverse group of professionals. Check out our referral guide here.
