India: WORLD HIGHEST MOTORABLE ROAD

• Border Roads Organisation (BRO) under Union Minsitry of Defense of India has constructed the World's highest motorable road in Laddakh region of Jammu and Kashmir.
• The road passes through Umlingla Top at a height over 19,300 feet.
• It is a 86 km road connecting Chisumle and Demchok villages, located at 230 km from Leh.
• The road has been constructed under BRO's 'Project Himnak'.
• **Record was earlier held by Khardung La with an elevation of 5,359 m (17,582 ft).
