Today I found another article about Steemit which was on wdbj7.com

Eamon O'Meara of wdbj7.com states that Steemit is a social media website which helps people to get paid for posting quality content. He further states that the users are not being paid in money but in "Steem Points" instead. The article is 8 hours old by the time of writing this post.

He quotes Ned Scott and Daniel Larimer who explain the basics of Steemit and states that the company already employs a dozen people in Blacksburg, Virginia. He adds that it doesn't cost anything to sign up, that new users will get "5 Steem Points" for free and that in order to sign up it is necessary to provide an email, a phone number, a username and a password like on most other media sites.

At the end of the article he quotes Daniel Larimer, who replied to the question if the people should get into Steemit while Bitcoin is rising in value that "the more people who get involved in Steemit will cause a rise in value and if people lose interest the price will go down".
