US Marines get first female infantry officer


The lieutenant, who needs to keep her character private, graduated in Quantico, Virginia, on Monday. 


She will soon be allocated to lead a 40-in number unit. 


Marine Corps commandant Gen. Robert Neller tweeted a photo of the lady, saying he was "pleased with this officer and her kindred pioneers". 


There are right around 1.4 million dynamic obligation troops in the US military, and around 15% are female.

She will now be sent to the first Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California, for her first task.
