First Dengue Vaccination Approval in Mexico
Mexico has approved the use of dengue fever vaccine for the first time in the world. The country's Health Ministry has announced this.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the deadly disease is estimated to kill 22,000 people every year in the world.
The French pharmaceutical company Sanofi said they have worked for 20 years for the development of this vaccine named Danguavacia.
In the initial stage, 40,000 people in Mexico will be given this vaccine.
In a statement, the country's health ministry said, "Through this decision, Mexico will proceed from all countries in the world, from France as well as to prevent the spread of dengue infections."
More than 40 million people worldwide suffer from dengue fever every year. Especially in the tropical and semi-tropical climate towns, the risk of the disease is higher.
WHO says that one of the main reasons for the admission of patients in Latin America and Asian countries is due to dengue fever. Most of the victims are children.
Children under 9 years of age who live in Dengue, and adults 49 years of age will get this vaccine.
Sanphi said the vaccine will be effective in preventing four types of dengue.
The drug manufacturer said that they spent more than $ 160 million in the preparation of dengue vaccines and treatment methods.
In the 1950s, Thailand and the Philippines recorded the world's first Dengue Disease data.
