TOWN ACUTUALLY SURVIVES WITHOUT POLICE!

This may be impossible to believe but a town in Alaska has actually survived, even thrived after its entire police force of four officers quit. Wow is that even possible? Is it really even in the realm of possibility that an entire small town doesn't need to tattle to police over every little thing? Can people actually live and breath without having to be under 24/7 surveillance by law enforcement? Apparently the City Council wasn't sure as they felt the need to send out a PSA reassuring, read 'warning', civilians that things would not fall into chaos.
