Android Go boosts budget smartphone sales

in #news6 years ago

During the MWC in Barcelona, two tech companies communicated that they will be building a budget smartphone that runs the Android GO operating system.

Android is already world's biggest mobile OS, but Google wants to expand even more, focusing on the emerging markets such as India & Africa. They want to increase their market share by developing a lightweight version of their know Android OS, called Android GO. The software would be ideal to roll out in what Google calls 'entry level hardware' with less than a GB of RAM, slow processor etc.. Android GO would only be using half of the storage space of what the normal Android versions use, and would also support the lightweight versions of apps such as Maps and Gmail.
