The chaos of Covid-19 in India, people are dying outside hospitals

India is marking a tragedy of unprecedented proportions. Nearly 1.6 million cases of Covid-19 were reported within a week, bringing the total to more than 15 million infected.

In just 12 days, the positivity level of Covid-19 doubled to 17%, while in Delhi it reached 30%. Capacities of hospitals all over the country are full, but this time it is mainly young people who occupy the beds; in Delhi, 65% of cases are under 40 years old.

Shocked by criticism for lack of preparation before the wave of infections, the central government has organized special trains to deliver oxygen supplies to the worst-hit cities.

It has also pressured industrialists to increase oxygen production as well as life-saving drugs as they are in short supply.

Indian Air Force is also being used to transport oxygen tanks and other supplies across the country

Many patients are dying outside hospitals in the capital due to lack of beds and oxygen.

A charity has set up a makeshift crematorium to deal with the growing death toll.
