Family (Originally, "Mistake")

I must write another post here before I lose the chance to edit it.

...Here's what I decided to post: an exchange between myself and a friend.

Scene from visiting my conservative, Trump-supporting relatives:

I'm just sitting there, drunk like everyone else, listening with silent irritation to my family discuss the finer details of car leases and the required ages to begin withdrawing from retirement accounts. I smoke a little and think about how fucking boring they are, thinking "Oh fuck me, life can't be like this," etc., and then I remember the old slogan, "Communism will win." At that point I laughed and told them all: "Yours was the most screwed generation in human history," meaning they will be the last generation to die before humanity prevails over capital, and then adding, "But almost every generation of humanity was screwed over worse than you." Then to bed.
