Arab spring, the ousting of some long serving Presidents in Africa.

For a couple of months now in Africa, there has been series of protests demanding the stepping down of some long serving Presidents in Africa. First was that of Algeria H. E Abdelaziz Bouteflika, although protesters are demanding for scrapping of the entire regime before forming a transitional government.

The said former head of state was sick and equally paralyzed thus moving on a wheel chair and always with an aid.

He had been in power for two decades and was wanting to contest again during the upcoming presidential elections.

Yesterday saw another twist of events in Sudan as Omar Al- Bashir was overthrown by the military following protests that started in December, 2018 due to hikes in basic commodities and was later transformed into national protest asking the president to resign who vehemently refused to do so.

The protests however continued with universities shutdown, until yesterday when the military overthrown him, and are yet to have him released. Omar Al-Bashir who came to power in 1989 through a military coup and has ruled the country for three decades.

The military says they will form a transitional government and organize elections within two years, the protests still continue as the people do not want any military rule.

As such protesters defy curfew and state of emergency by the said military leader.

Hope it extents to other parts of Africa, as these fellows have failed this great continent woefully, and are even showing any symptom of change in them.

but so far the miliary even protected the protestors. i have mixed feelings since they say the intermediate government is only 2 years, which may be necessary for political democratic oponents to form, yet i feel uneasy as its a military government with the power to overthrow anything they disagree on.

Yes you are right but the military is willing to work with the civilian population and other stakeholders, we only pray they respect it, thanks.
