Now if you take Bernays ideas and and add decades of fluoridation and social engineering to the equation, it is clear what is happening.
The question is if it is possible to escape. I am afraid we are not. The majority of people is already way too dumbed down to use critical thinking. And propaganda is perfectly legal now in the US of A...

I find the best thing to do is not watch or listen to any of the news. I realize by doing that you might think I am anti-pressfortruth, lol, but that is not the case. I enjoy your work.
Monopolizing anything is not good, for anything or anyone. It lowers the quality and effort the people with the monopoly have to put forth for their customers. Controlling the media is a whole other beast.
Brainwashing has been around for a long time. Won't get into the religious implications there...but all I will say is that people, humans, are very easily influenced. The masses. It is sad, but true.
How do you combat that? Is it even possible? You essentially cannot stop someone with a lot of money and power. They will have their agenda laid out on a silver platter for them, waiting for a nod of the head in order for the servant to serve it up to "the people".

We are tricked and lied to at every angle. Most people have no clue. It is much easier to "go with the flow".
Even if we don't want to "go with the flow", there are so few that are able to think out of the box.
Those who can are often given warning labels, and treated as dangerous subjects.
Thinking is too difficult for the masses, most are willing to outsource their mind without considering the consequences.
Pretty much sums it up. People just tend to go about their business as usual, systems has and probably will always perform that way.
I really hope that this decentralized internet ( DTUBE and STEEMIT especially) catches on. The only way to fight this massive brainwashing from these companies.
Stay away from ALL mainstream media of all types.Do research on topics that you have an authentic need to know about. But be wary of all resources. Bias can come disguised in many forms.
I believe researching for yourself is a far better way to finding the truth of a matter ... being told what to believe just reeks of propaganda and agenda ..I stopped watching television 5 years ago and feel i have learned so much more from browsing the internet and alternative news sources... yes there is a ton of fake news and personal views and just downright bs.. but that is the challenge and getting two sides of a story is a better way to discern what is true or what may usually be just a work of fiction.. .. thank you Steemit and Dtube for making a difference and thanks pressfortruth for your time and effort :)
So true Dan. Listening to the mainstream is like listening to a broken propaganda record. I cut the cable years ago and only get my news online and from multiple sources, including yours my friend. Keep it up!
