Kaspersky Lab: $ 300 million stolen during the ICO for 2017

Kaspersky Lab discovered that in 2017, during the ICO, $ 300 million was stolen.

According to the Laboratory, in 2017 with the help of the ICO, $ 3.5 billion was raised, 300 million of which were stolen by intruders. From the actions of fraudsters in the ICO area, more than 60,000 people were affected.

Interest of hackers to ICO is connected first of all with decent sums which participants put in ICO: on the average the sum makes about 5 thousand dollars.

"For this year we have registered more than two thousand hacker attacks on the ongoing ICO. This is the most massive method of stealing money through the ICO"

says Alexander Gostev, chief antivirus expert at Kaspersky Lab.

Also, money is taken away with the help of phishing sites and spam emails, whose authors propose to invest money in fake ICO. Another way to steal money during the ICO comes from the organizers - with money you can simply run away. Someone originally planned fraud, someone could not stand the temptation and stole the money, someone failed to meet the task.
