RE: Why We Need to Start Reporting on Transhumanism

in #news7 years ago

A problem might be with the term transhumanism, and the emphasis by some on fusing our biology with technology - which triggers images cyborgs.

It's a provocative term, with controversial connotations - namely the modification of human beings.

I've a way through the back door is talking about supporting medical research;

Stem cell therapy that helps stoke victims and people with chronic injuries.

Hormone and Testosterone replacement therapy, to help slow down the effects of ageing, and give people back their energy and libido.

I also talk about how much better our general health would be if there was as much funding for medical research, as there was for the military.

Also people seem to be unaware of the number of diseases which increase in incidence with age, and is basically a consequence of the decline of aging.

I think that the modifications aiming aiming (frankly) superhuman abilities are interesting to a fringe of society, but practically everyone has either experienced or have a loved one who experiences chronic health issues. Which increased medical research could potentially resolve.
