Not being able to walk down the streets with a skirt , being women in 2018-
Being a woman for many of us in the world is still an unhappy condition.
There are many situations and stories where to be born female is almost a curse.
We annually celebrate the woman and hang flakes against episodes of violence against women that is now a scourge.
Yet I wonder how we are really ready to face discrimination and prejudices in us?
Not to mention then to be accepted as normal and instead are actually terrifying and discriminating.
A couple of weeks ago, write a friend of mine on her facebook profile :
"Coming out in the country for a walk , I felt invested by a series of comments on my body and my physical life by group of men on the car or on the bycicle, i felt embarassed for this series of vulgar comments on my person, i just weared leggins and large sweater, i felt scared. I am at home now and still I feel myself on this bad sensation, there is no doubt that the degree of culture and progress of a country it is not enogh when a man feel free to commet a girl's body when she walk"
If you are girls, it will have happened to you too.
To me the last time happened two days ago, I felt that the temperatures were very warm, I had a black skirt combined with a pair of black sandals.
I leave the house with my bag directed to the bar where I have to make deliveries to a customer, not even the time to take a walk that comes the first sound of the horn and my middle finger raised in response.
But really in 2018 still you play and whistles for a pair of legs discovered?
Well yes, continuing my journey to the bar I caught very little furtive glances and a couple of comments a little vulgar on my backside by a group of passing men.
How did you make me feel?
Embarrassed initially, as if I had gone out naked with a sign on my head or worse still a beautiful scarlet letter.
Shortly after the embarrassment has taken the place of anger, because I have to be ashamed to put a skirt in a day warmest as a day of July?
Boys wear summer clothes why i can not wear my skirt?
Because there are still men who believe it is funny or flattering to verbally harass and offende verbally a girl, and yes I use the word " Harass" not for fun , because you can not walk without someone whistling, staring at you insistently or you shout brash words and not considerate it a heavy offence .
Then when people wonder why there is still need of feminism that's why, because we are still not free to leave the house without getting spurious comments, because there are still those who do not respect us, because for many it is not clear the border to be respected in the freedom of others.
Shouting a woman's street obscenity and fixing it so much that it makes her uncomfortable or do it with whistles, noises and trumpets is a border that should not be exceeded in a civilized country.

I will start this by saying that making derogatory comments towards anyone isn't nice and I am not condoning it.......however.......and please don't assume I'm just some guy that is part of the problem I am interested in having a legitimate dialogue about how far this and other things are being taken. I would like to start by saying that most of the things American women are treating as life ending are on a world scale almost nothing, and I don't say that to be a jerk but lets get some perspective. I have served in the military and been over seas and seen how women truly being mistreated looks, and it is horrifying instead of getting cat called you would have to ask to even be allowed outside and if you think you are going to walk around by yourself, good luck, you are a mans property and you will only be allowed those freedoms when he says its ok. That I would consider a genuine problem and compared to some guys in essence saying they find you attractive(granted in a very un gentlemen like manner) pales in comparison to genuine human rights violations including slavery of men and women from Libya that is happening at this very moment. So it may seem like I am "marginalizing" your experience but when put into perspective I would hope we can all agree that most of what the US is complaining about are first world problems.
I will briefly expand on that last point by saying that a first world problem for example is anyone complaining about a safe space at there ivy league college. For one the very fact that they are provided with such an incredible opportunity that is higher education which was only there because you live in a country where all your basic needs like food, no "real" fear of having your life ended by some random act of violence or socially condoned acts of violence(sharia law), a home, transportation, sovereignty as a human being, etc. are met it is honestly quite hard to take most of the mainstream narrative argument with a straight face.
As well I have seem on multiple occasions women in plain English say it is ok to grope men and fondle there bodies, muscles. why the double standard, because I personally respect the sovereignty of everyone. I will return to sharia law as I view it as one of the biggest affronts to human/women's rights on the planet. here is a list of genuine problems
so excuse me when i find it hard to get up in arms over some guys lacking some couth, which while uncool is not a reason to demonize men and play the victim. Our current society is so distracted with trivial issues when we are faced with genuine crimes against humanity and a government that is out to take what little remains of our freedom and call it national security. we are all being lied to and guided into this bullshit narrative that is keeping us at each others throats instead of addressing the real monsters among us.
The elite use us as fodder for there wars and they trade us like cattle. We have sociopath, pedophile, satanist, rapist(boys and girls), in positions of power. These are the same people pushing all this divisive rhetoric on us so we don't look behind the curtain and see what is really going on behind the scenes.
I will end this with saying I'm sorry you got cat called men should really learn some couth but lets not take it too far, at this rate men wont even be allowed to voice that they find a woman attractive(which is a basic biological process) without being labeled a misogynistic pig.
Maybe I have come off angry or bitter or whatever but really I want to end the genuine suffering on this planet and acting like a man saying a few words that you found offensive is the what is really wrong with our society is intellectually dishonest or just naive.

I'm glad you wrote under my article, the comments are always welcome and even the comparison. I find many parts of your speech right, of course it was not my intent to put verbal harassment between serious problems or to preach a far more serious issues like rapes, marriages with very young girls and other defects of rights and protections in my opinion and for all human beings.
Reading and hearing the TV and informing me through magazines I read about horrible situations both for women and for men, where those who hold undisputed human rights are killed and the people treated in ways that are not human to me and totally unworthy of a civilized society. Nor is it my intention to say that all the comments a man makes to a woman are harassment.
But I find uncivilized in Italy (Here I speak of Italy, I do not know the situation in America, having never lived and not having visited) often find yourself having to walk in the street with the fear that some idiot (use a euphemism) y scream on you what he would make to you sexually or talk about your forms making you feel insecure, because certain attitudes are scary.
I luckily and I consider it a great fortune I was born in a country where the human condition is good, women and minorities are respected enough, we still have many cases of homicide and domestic violence and this upsets me because I think that in a modern country and civil, certain things should already be gone, people should already be non-violent and prefer dialogue to force. Precisely because I think my country is a civilized place, I do not tolerate women being insulted for a dress or just because they walk alone on the street.
And with insults I mean insults, and not the "Ciao bella " that here is typical nice thing to say to a girl like " hi beauty" a way to say she looks nice and indicates attraction that is as you say normal, even if I see a nice guy I say " che bello" , but one thing is a compliment or an appreciation, a another is an insult or vulgarity.

I felt a veil of sadness for all the situations you have described to me because as a Utopian perhaps a pacifist dreamer I would never want people to be enslaved or tortured or treated as objects, but cynically I know the world for some of us and some places is a place not suitable for dreams.
I really appreciate your response and I may have come from a perspective of having to deal with a lot of SJW what i would consider insanity here lately so if I came off a little heavy it is just because it has come to the point of having to defend basic human interactions of late. I look around and see all the genuine suffering in this world and then see what is being blasted over the airwaves and it makes me frustrated and sad. such a simple concept the golden rule is but ever so elusive in actual application for our species, it boggles the mind.

I remember it was always a common thing for Danish people to get bothered by men in Italy by their blond hair and blue eyes, but luckily I havnen't felt it so much. Maybe because I have been there mostly along with a man and a child!
So sad that this still goes on. But then just look at what is happening in the US at the moment.
