Earthquake Jolts Northern California

in #news7 years ago

After 2 and a half years of living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been through my first Californian earthquake. Reports show that it was a magnitude 4.4 quake that was felt up to 8 miles away. Unfortunately, I was dead asleep when the event happened, which is right on course for me and natural disasters. So far, I've slept through hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards, and hail storms.

Also, par for the course, I was alerted about the weather phenomenon by family and friends outside the area. First, the best friend on the east coast who seems to have a psychic feed on these things. Then family around the country, whom all find out about this before me. Thankfully this time it was an occurrence that actually happened near me; unlike the earthquake that happened in 2017 50 miles off the coast of Portland, OR or the fires of LA County.

Just wondering, at what point should I be terrified of an earthquake? All the news outlets have headline hooks that show no damage done. As an earthquake rookie, there should be an "oh shit" point where I should be taken this seriously.
