Former Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced to step down from next month's presidential election.

Instead, calling for supporters of winning the Runmeamat Fernando Haddad as president, the left-hand politician of Tumul popularly known in Brazil.

On Tuesday, the leader of the Worker's Party, Glaci Hoffman, told Lular that he should step aside from the police headquarters, BBC reported.

72-year-old Lula, convicted of corruption, is serving 12 years of sentence in the police headquarters.

The former president has been denying the charges brought against him since the beginning. The former trade union leader alleged before the verdict that the plot to prosecute him in a false case is part of a plan not to participate in the October election.

A couple of weeks ago the Brazilian constitutional court ruled that "the sentencing Lula could not stand in the election". Former President's lawyers did not make the decision change by appealing.

Lula announced the withdrawal of her candidature within a few days after hardliner right-wing politician Jair Bollsonar was stabbed in the election campaign.

Since the attack, 63-year-old Bolesonar has been increasingly popular because of the popular opinion polls. He is also expected to get the top position in the first round of elections on 7 October. Although the Workers Party hopes, their candidate Haddad Bazimat will vote in the second round.

In a letter written to supporters from prison, Lula said about the decision to withdraw his candidacy. Huffman read out it outside the police headquarters on Tuesday. As a protest against Lula, her numerous supporters stayed for five months outside the headquarters.

In the letter, from 2003 to 2010, Brazil's President-in-law Lula also called on all supporters to make every effort to win Haddad.

Haddad, who served as the education minister in the Lular cabinet, was the mayor of Sao Paulo, Brazil's most densely populated city from 2013 to 2017.

If the Workers Party lulla in the presidential election this year, the 72-year-old politician himself chose Haddad as the vice presidential candidate.

Since Lula's decision, the Workers' Party is planning to move forward with the slogan 'Haddadai Lula'.

55-year-old Haddadar's popularity as the last of the polling agency IBOPE has been shown to be rising upward. Bolsonorio is still ahead with 28 percent support, they said.

Observers say that the right-wing right-wing Bolosnarro will be the top of the first week of October.

If he can apply Lulla's image, Haddad will surpass the Social Liberal Party candidate in the second round.
