At least 18 people were killed and many were wounded when the flyover collapsed in northern India's Varanasi. The accident occurred when the flyover collided with two poles on Tuesday evening.
So far three people have been able to get out of the debris, said Indian media NDTV. Most of the casualties are known to be the construction workers of the bridge. According to NDTV, the number of casualties may increase due to several people buried under debris.
An eyewitness, located 50 meters away from the accident, says four cars, an auto-rickshaw and a minibus were buried under the debris.
'Uttar Pradesh State Bridge Corporation' was constructing flyovers. Find out the reason for the collapse of the bridge and ordered to submit the report within 48 hours, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.
