What the Geoffrey Owens Situation Teaches Us About Positivity

in #news6 years ago

Just in case you have not heard the story...

One of the co-stars of ”The Cosby Show”, Geoffrey Owens (who played the son-in-law Elvin), was seen working at the grocery store Trader Joe’s. The person who took the photo began shaming him, as if he was a has-been and that this is what happens to all those who stop getting acting gigs.

There was an overwhelming amount of support behind Geoffrey Owens. Most related to him working at a grocery store while waiting for jobs. He was overwhelmed by the love and even shared that he was proud to work at Trader Joe’s and didn’t feel it was a dead end. His thought was “every job is important and nothing is any better than the other”.  He was then offered a job through Twitter by a prominent film and television producer.

He stayed positive in the situation, even though he could have gotten angry and blasted the woman who shamed him in the first place.  Or he could have gone to the other extreme and hid from everything. Yet he stayed true to himself and his thoughts, and look what happened for him. He is now working with a major producer.

Now, let us turn this around.

What opportunities are YOU missing because of your negative attitude or outlook?

Where could YOU be more positive, even though things seem as if they are falling apart?

Remember, you are being an example to someone. Be a positive one!

Good for Geoffrey Owens. I hadn't heard this story before, I like the bigness and generosity of heart.
