Newsflash: Jerry Banfield upvotes latest by over $1200+
OMG, Steemit is AMAZING and yet the balls of some people. In Jerry Banfield's latest attempt to convince us he's developing a STEEM -> FIAT system he casually upvotes his post to the tune of more than $1200.
However, some of us aren't that stupid and when we see a comment like this...
Which suggests a massive upvote from one of the biggest upvote bots in the system, and we start to ask questions like 'How big is that upvote?'
And it doesn't take much time to find a corresponding 21% value upvote from PostPromoter which according to a previous upvote is worth $361.
So when you do the math, you realize that a 71% vote costs about $1200USD from PostPromoter, but wait, there's more.
This isn't the only bot upvoting this post.
As you'll see Buildawhale is also an upvote bot but I haven't been able to confirm the upvote amount so I can't comment further.
Now it's quite incredible someone has this much balls to upvote this big given the current 'Haejin' drama at the moment.
However, unlike @haejin, Jerry at least tries to form an argument in his long winded post even though it feels like it's just a replication of the localbitcoins website which was pointed out many times in the comments.
@jerrybanfield certainly does have his haters on Steemit but also has a lot of supporters and its clear his main goal is to become a top 20 witness so he can collect the 260 daily STEEM (currently worth approx $1700 USD) as a reward for being a Top 20 STEEM Witness.
And as the developer of this app needs to have or maintain a witness server it's clear to me the intention here is to have the developer eventually vote for @jerrybanfield so he can leverage another large witness vote to move him further up the witness ranks and eventually to the money faucet.
And Jerry never misses a trick to promote himself, as his upvote bot subjects you to a massive link SPAM attack when you use his service.
It's a pity that someone with so much energy can't understand he's polarizing the community with his behavior.
Now don't get me wrong, I don't have a problem with upvoting bots in general and will use it myself as a way to stand out from the crowd. But excessive upvoting it just asking for trouble.
Perhaps if @jerrybanfield gave himself a $100 upvote to start the ball rolling and clearly outlined this in the post, then maybe we'd have a true reflection on whether the community believes this to be a worthy idea or not.
Afterall, he does command nearly 25000 followers, so surely that is enough to give his post the value it deserves.
And I suspect when the down voting is complete he would have wasted his $1200 upvote and made a few more enemies along the way.
IMHO. This highlights a feature of steem that has become a double-edged sword and probably could use some rework (Steem Power delegation). SP Delegation is the feature that allows us more whales than we normally would have. Steemians can get together and essentially make a whale by delegating SP to a single user. Why? For very purpose expressed above. Circle jerking. Seriously...that's the only use case for it. I mean, intentions may be to give more influence to a group of people (kinda like how the electoral college works or ... socialism) to increase their gains collectively. Once they have created this beast of an influencer, they can go around curating content they like/dislike. Unfortunately, most of this content is their own. The intent was to give good content creators more rewards, but instead whales are loyal to their masters.
The one instance in which I wish Steemit was a little more like Facebook, is that I so badly wanted to click on an angry emoji to this information. Haha. This is unreal, but I guess to be expected. I just got finished making a video about whale upvote abuse and how it is turning Steemit into a Ponzi scheme. The minnow work on the bottom for nothing, producing new Steem that then gets circulated between the witnesses, whales and the people like @haejin that the whales deem worthy of ludicrous amounts of SP. Eventually though, if the minnows continue to go unloved and unnoticed, everything will collapse in on itself. It's like the whales know what is at stake but don't really care. (Well some of them at least.)
I loved this post btw, I do hope you write more like this! :)
I love this too:
Soooooo...have yet to meet a whale not bit by the
con-the-minnows
bugI've just checked out your video and it's a great explanation of the current status quo. The witnesses have the most to loose in this current battle, because if Steemit fails, so do their cash cows.
Personally I hope Jerry never represents this community as a Witness.
I have another 'looser' in my sights today. This shit just keeps going on the more I dig.
Thanks! Both you and Beth. There is a German guy that speaks out against hey~ginn and has been hit with $90 down votes from the arrow jockey. Steemit may be decentralized, but it's not a free speech zone; the biggest gun wins. Keep digging! Greetings!
If you wanna know how much of voting % buildawhale was...
it's 19%
post promoter was a $450 worth post.
val-a is the second bigest %
Jerry gave himself a 58% worth about $117
I am new to all of this steemit and dtube but anywhere jerry goes he tries to game the system udemy skillshare youtube all of it. The banfield virus runs deep. There is a positive to him he is goofy as Sh!t
