Oh The Hypocritical Irony

So if you haven't noticed by now, but the new trending style Greta video everyone is sharing right now, is from comedian Sacha Baron Cohen taking pot shots at Facebook for helping spread hate. Firstly let me point out the overwhelming irony and just retarded hypocrisy of the his statement, which you can check out below, well part of it. Sacha Baron Cohen is the literal embodiment of what is considered hate speech on social media. Just so that we are all on the same page, or in case anyone got memory wiped by the men in black. Sacha has for years been a very edgy comedian, joking about everything from racism to mocking the Jews, to just outright being sexist, so much so that he was banned from the Oscars. In all accounts he is literally describing himself when he talks about hate on social media, that is because what he says is considered hate speech. Yes, people who joke about these things are the people who are being banned from social media and being labeled. Remember when the guy from Scotland called Count Dankula made a joke by teaching his girlfriend's dog to do the Nazi salute. How about more recently when people were calling on South Park to be banned, and they were banned from China because China can't take a joke. Sacha has come under fire over the years for the exact same thing, so his speech on Facebook allowing hate is just utter bull shit. People are no longer able to distinguish real hate from comedy, yet you still want to censor what some consider hate from their perspective, which is people like him. Just how stupid is Sacha?

"I love it when women go to school. It's like seeing a monkey on rollerskates. It means nothing to them, but it's so adorable for us." - General Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen)

Unfortunately I am the last person on earth who wants to defend Facebook, but here we are. The issue here is that Facebook is a platform and not a publisher like Sacha want Facebook to be, just like the the telephone company or like the post office. Sacha makes the dumbest statement in his speech, "Under this twisted logic, if Facebook were around in the 1930s, it would have allowed Adolf Hitler to post 30-second ads on his ‘solution’ to the ‘Jewish problem." Yes, they would have, just like the phone company, and the post office, or like every other company that sold stuff to the Nazi's. Don't see much outrage today about VW being the car company of choice for the Nazi's, or all the international banks the took their money. The point is it's just a stupid argument to make, if Facebook was available in the 1930 they probably also wouldn't have allowed black people to use it, because what Sacha is calling for is government legislation. And the problem with that is, what happens when is is a dictator government that is making the laws, and Facebook has to adhere to those laws?

Facebook is a platform on paper, and due to that they get special legal exemption from libel laws and being sued by companies for what people post, they are not a publisher. The fight has been going on that FB is not sticking to those rules and is acting like a publisher, which is what we do not want. Because we don't want a powerful corporation choosing who is allowed to speak or to censor opinions that a specific government does not like. This is literally how you get fascism, thanks Sacha, you absolute fucktard.

"Why are you guys so anti-dictators? Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation's wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free, but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. You could use the media to scare the people into supporting policies that are against their interests." - General Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen)

I have to disagree with you. I think Sacha Baron Cohen is actually quite an intelligent dude who raises social and racial issues through the medium of comedy. He is not promoting hate speech or silencing opinions of one side like a lot of the social media giants.

I think that was the point he was trying to convey, maybe I'm wrong though.

I know he is a very intellectual person, but he's out of touch with reality, in which people across social media are being de-platformed for really stupid things, because it is being defined hate by FB and others, like the okay hand sign or making the same jokes as he has for years. By advocating for more enforcement to stop said hate, or what he considers hate only hurts the people.

Just for the record, I don't believe in hate speech laws, because who gets to define what is subjectively considered hate? Therefore I am a free speech absolutist, nobodies voice should be silenced or censored.
