Interesting facts about India

With this series of "General Knowledge" I want to provide some quite interesting facts which could help you to get some cool conversations started or help you to gain some other impressions of the world we are living in. Probably it will change your way to watch the News too.

• Corrupt
  That’s a pretty common thing in Asian countries – Before you go to jail they ask you pretty much what you could pay …
• Competitor to china
  India is going to compete against China with cheap products. Probably it’s no big problem for china anyway, because they are going slightly to quality instead of quantity – just as a little fun fact: did you know that “made in Germany” was introduced by England to warn people of poor quality – things keep changing …
• Bad infrastructure and technical equipment
  India has thousands of train stations and most of them are in such a bad situation that trains could pass them really slowly … attached you find a cool picture of a train station which goes directly through a market 😃

• Dirtiest country on earth
  Yes unfortunately this point goes directly to India – it is hot, there are a lot of people and a bad canalization system …
• The Caste system
  It’s still in use and the parents are looking for good partner for their kids. Sounds a little bit old-fashioned for a European, but hey culture is culture and I think it’s getting less too.”
• Slums are very important
  Sounds crazy, right? But there are positive aspects of a slum too. It helps to keep the City as clean. Especially in Calcutta which is an area with a very high poverty in India. People are making mobile phones just out of “trash” and reuse the plastic bottles and so on – it is amazing how creative humans are if they have nothing else – the biggest respect from my side!!
