The Russian National Agency for Financial Studies (NAVI) estimated Russian companies' losses from cyber attacks in 2017 at 116 billion rubles (about $ 2 billion).

According to the agency, quoted by the newspaper "IRBK", on Wednesday, half of Russian companies faced various threats this year, including 22% of the Hackers, the average loss in one company about 300 thousand rubles ($ 5,000) , Where the loss depends on the volume of business engaged in the company.

The Russian economy's total losses from e-piracy could rise to between 600 and 650 billion rubles (more than $ 10 billion) a year, according to the Central Bank of Russia, which was revealed by its vice president Stanislav Kuznetsov.

A survey conducted by the Russian National Agency for Financial Studies in November, which included 500 company managers in eight federal constituencies, showed that 62 per cent of large companies were attacked, compared with 46 to 47 per cent for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The attacks were most often computer-infected with viruses, including 20% extortion, 12% penetration of e-mail boxes, and attacks on corporate sites at 10% of all attacks.
Although 99% of respondents are aware of cyber threats, 60% still underestimate their business.

"This threat can not be fully addressed as long as it is too small," said Kirill Smirnov, director of digital economics at the financial research agency.

However, more than half of business people believe that Russian security services are unable to conduct successful investigations into cybercrime and punish perpetrators.

Some major Russian companies, including Megaphone, VimpelCom Mobile, Rosneft and Bash Oil, were attacked in 2017 by viruses such as WannaCry and Petya, which were demanding payments for decrypting infected files .
